Oil change
An engine is the heart of the car and the oil used acts as a fluid to help the functioning of the car. So oil is the most important aspect of running the car. One should change the engine oil of the car every 5000 to 6000 km range for the normal oil and every 8000 km for the synthetic oil.
Brake Fluid
A low brake fluid level can trigger the brake light to come on…Brake fluid leaks are serious as they provide little to no stopping power while driving. Hard to stop or mushy brake pedal â Low brake fluid can cause that spongy feeling in your brakes while you step on the brake pedal.
Coolant Check/change
Antifreeze, or engine coolant, is a colored liquid that is mixed with water to help regulate your engine during extreme temperatures. As the temperature outside changes from hot to cold coolant is pumped throughout the engine block to maintain an even operating temperature.
Lights
As well as checking the exterior lights such as headlights, fog lights, indicators, Reverse lights, and brake lights, we will also look at the interior lighting and dashboard lights to check for any wasrnings.
Windscreens, wipers & mirrors
Damage to your car’s windscreen could result in an MOT fail. If there is the damage of 40mm in size, anywhere on the windscreen, your vehicle will fail its MOT. However, even 10mm-sized damage on cracked windscreen results in an MOT failure.
Polen Filter
Most vehicle manufacturers recommend changing your Pollen Filter every two years. However, if you live in a highly polluted area or drive mostly in the city, this could be more frequently. Cooler weather is usually the ideal time to replace your Pollen Filter.
Brakes
Brake pads wear out over time due to use, and when the lining starts to erode it will affect braking efficiency and can be dangerous. However, unless your pads are worn below the acceptable level of 1.5mm, you will not fail your MOT test for your brake pads. Brake pads, discs, rubber brake pedal, handbrakes, brake pipes, brake callipers, and fluid will usually be checked during an MOT.
